As a marketing and communications specialist, I develop and execute strategic communications campaigns, create graphics, edit news releases, develop social media campaigns, and shoot and edit video. As a recent graduate of  the Colorado State University Masters in Communication and Media Management Program, I advanced my skills and developed comprehensive communications plans for clients throughout the U.S.

 

As both a journalist and communications specialist I created successful social media strategies to engage our audience and professionally interact on our platforms. But mostly, I love learning about people —  especially those whose voices may not always be heard — and helping tell their stories.

One threat I see to communicators is stagnation, as we are experts in a constantly shifting industry. I work consistently to avoid stagnation through listening to my communities and monitoring ongoing movement in the marketing and communication industry.

Education

2020-2022

Colorado State University

Graduated August 2022 with a Masters in Communication and Media Management. The program included extensive work in strategic communication plan development and execution, in addition to technical skills like graphic design and photography.

2010-2014

Cornell College

I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of the Arts as a double major in English and Theatre after studying directing, acting, creative writing, and extensive play and classic literature analysis.

  • I will treat others with kindness. I am dedicated to acting with kindness and understanding in both my personal and professional interactions, including when leadership is required. As a professional communicator, I understand the vital importance of collaborating with internal teams, partner organizations, and businesses. 

  • I will remain dedicated to continual learning. As a communication professional I recognize that our methods of communication are continually shifting. Remaining up-to-date on the latest trends, social platforms, communication styles, and technology is vital to long-term success.

  • I will consider the impact of my actions on all those who may be affected by my work. As a reporter and later communication specialist for a government agency, the good of my communities has consistently remains at the forefront of decisions I and my colleagues make. When developing communication strategies and advising teammates, impact is always part of the process.

  • I will adhere to a standard of truth. While perceptions vary regarding the professions, marketing and public relations must follow a standard of truthfulness in order to successfully communicate with various audiences in an ethical and effective manner.

As a communications professional, I recognize that we can influence and impact the public in a variety of ways, so acting with integrity and clarity is key to being successful communicators and ethical members of our communities.
